That trans Atlantic transmission was actually captured on a record, yup phonogram/-graph became a videograph. Low information content made that it could be captured onto a shellac disc. A number of years ago this disc was decoded using modern computer technology.

JVC Visual Systems will introduce two Visualization Series projectors designed for the simulation market next week at I/ITSEC 2017. I/ITSEC that bills itself as the World's largest modeling, simulation and training event, is hosted in Orlando Florida next week, November 27-December 1.

The show features exhibit displays including: Computer-Based 3D graphics, Flight Simulators, Convoy Trainers, SCORM, Information Technology, Advanced Distributed Learning, Aerospace, Communications, Public Safety and many more.

The DLA VS4700 projector offers native 4K resolution with e-shift technology to display up to 8K resolution, while the DLA VS4010NLG is JVC’s brightest simulation projector and provides 11 percent more vertical picture area than other 4K projectors (2400 pixels as most of JVC's native 4K LCoS projectors). Both three-chip D-ILA projectors feature BLU-Escent technology, JVC’s solid-state, laser phosphor hybrid illumination system that delivers low operating cost, consistent performance, and more than 20,000 projection hours.

Each model also offers high contrast IR output, which is ideal for simulated NVG (nightvision) applications. Available with fixed or zoom lenses, the DLA VS4700 offers 3000 lumens with greater than 12,000:1 contrast ratio. Its rugged chassis is designed for motion-based operations, and unlimited pitch and roll allow operation in any orientation. I/O terminals include four DisplayPort 1.2a, LAN, RJ45, RS-232C, USB, mini wired remote, and sync out. Other features include digital smear reduction via black frame insertion, 12-bit color bit depth, and six-axis color management system. With 50Hz, 60Hz, and 120Hz synchronous operation, the DLA-VS4700 supports various simulation generators in single, dual, quad stripe, or quadrant mode

Ideal for simulations, immersive displays, museums, and medical institutions, the DLA VS4010NLG displays 4096x2400 pixels and delivers 6000 lumens with greater than 10,000:1 contrast ratio.

Compatible with a variety of fixed or zoom lenses, the DLA VS4010NLG offers 8-bit bit depth with single-link DVI and 12-bit color bit depth with dual-link DVI. Connectivity options include four DVI-D dual-link inputs, as well as Ethernet, USB, and three RS-232 ports.

The DLA-VS4010NLG will be available in December 2017, and the DLA VS4700 will be available in Spring 2018.

I love to do a separate room with some antic stuff inside like the a good CRT Projector an old early Tube TV and if possible some of the stuff you talk about.

I think about it since many years.
But the room I had plan for this is blocked by my daughter for the next years :)

Hi Wolfgang!

The picture was photographed off the rotating disc and according to the caption it shows a business partner of J.L. Baird, Oliver Hutchinson.  So then this would be a 30 line image, the later NBTV "club" standard is 32 lines.
Apparently this picture accompanied the article in the "TIMES" about Baird's successful demonstration for the Royal Society in 1926. Source: The English Wikipedia article on JL Baird.
It is really staggering to think about the development of TV in the past 100 years. We should put one of the rotating disc machines next to your projector one day!

Let's stay a bit longer with John Logie Baird:

On January 26. 1926 about 50 scientists from the prestigious ROYAL INSTITUTION climbed to Baird's attic laboratory in London to witness the first transmission of a live tv image of a person's face. With this feat J.L. Baird made history- he is recognized now as being the first inventor whose system was able to transmit greyscale images - albeit in very low resolution. - 30 lines- and 12.5 images per second.

Feb. 08. 1928: Baird made history again by transmitting the first live tv images across the Atlantic Ocean.

Still in the year 1928, Baird showed a first primitive color TV system with a rotating color filter. This might be called the birth of color-sequential tv, a technique used today in most consumer video projectors.

From 1929 to 1935, the BBC showed  experimental television via shortwave radio. Baird developed a machine called the TELEVISOR - for wealthy customers- since at the time it was quite expensive.
But it could also be built from a kit by  tech-savvy radio amateurs. These were the first to be able to see regular television anyway, since the running of these machines was far from "you push the button, we do the rest".
Thanks to Baird and other pioneers,  TV had quickly become a commercial reality, and made it from wooden contraptions in labs to something that would not look out of place in a consumer household.
The image quality was still very poor, but at least recognizable faces and other detailed objects could be clearly seen on the tiny  area of the Nipkow disc.

Just watch the whole T2 3D BD tonight.

WOW the best Version I have seen in my live.
Beside some minor 2D to 3D bugs I report already I not see any more big bugs.
I have ask my Family if they saw something but no one saw any bug :)
So we all enjoy the movie a lot even if we saw this movie many times.

3D Version was as I post very bright and show a very nice compare to all other versions
more detailed picture with better color less noise and yes first time 3D.

Terminator 2 is one of the best movies I saw so far in my live.

I cannot remember how many times in how many versions I watch it but I think more than 10 times for sure.
I remember that I had a Laser Disc Import from Japan that had a for Laser Disc very rare Anamorphic NTSC Version on!

So I was very impatient to see this new scanned and mastered Terminator 2 UHD and 3D BD.

A short look yesterday show for the 3D BD a very good picture quality but a big surprise I see some 2D to 3D artefacts that I have never see from such a big movie and I really wonder how this can happen when James Cameron did it?
Normally his name is a guaranty for a super good picture quality like for sample the super good Titanic 2D to 3D conversion.

We will watch the whole movie in 3D BD possible later today or over the weekend and let’s see if there is beside the bugs I have seen in the opening sequence other 3D bugs as well inside.
Beside this 2D to 3D Bugs the quality is outstanding and show a much better picture compare to all old other versions that show this movie see also the pictures down.
I never thing that I can see T2 in this quality in my live as all versions that are till today out not show a good picture quality but now this change.

So it was a surprise to me how good it looks but more than the 3D BD surprise me the UHD Version as I thought that the original Super35mm Film not contains much more than just 2K resolution.
So I expect a good 3D BD but doubt that the UHD Version are can show more.
This UHD Disc was the proof that it is possible and that S35mm Film can have more than 2K inside as compare to the 3D BD it show an even better picture quality.
More details are visible in some sequences and better color and HDR.
UHD version was a bit dim from my taste and strange some parts that should show a full black show not a full black so not sure if there was a near black bug inside as some other UHD Disc have.
Also what is a bit strange that normally the OPPO UHD Player 203 show when you hit the Info bottom for 2 to 3 sec. a detailed  information list.
In the section where the player show normally min. and max. nit was nothing inside at all!
This was the first UHD Disc I have seen that not show there any data.
Not sure what cause it and bad I can see this info.
At least the Oppo show in the beginning the HDR 10 Logo.

Will report when I have news and may there are other reader here that had this new version and like to report as well.
