« on: Wed February 03, 2016, 11:57:41 AM »
Barco Residential will use ISE, next week, to tell more about its upcoming 6P RGB LASER projector for High-end Residential aplication, first previewed last October at the CEDIA show in Dallas. It will show 'Ultimate Cinema at Home' a 6P laser theater with Auro 3D in collaboration with Steinway Lyngdorf and Stewart Filmscreen.

Barco will also introduce another 4K LASER projector in the Barco Residential projector family, details of wich are to be revealed at the show.

Barco Residential's private, by appointment, demoroom will also feature the Barco Residential Media Solution: high resolution Rear-projection with multiple, freely manipulatable content sources for a variety of applications such as the Ultimate Home Office, or a Private Sports Bar.

Barco will also show off how it re-applies its decades of Direct-view LED Display experience in the commercial domain to the Residential market with an high-resolution LED application.

That would be my guess as well. All he would tell me was 'it is 4K and Laser'.

Of course, it is much less expensive as well. Even Barco needs to have a lower cost solution to underpin its  'Ultimate Cinema at Home' that does offer 6P.

A top laser expert at barco was explaining a theory that there are two kinds of Blu lasers, those within spec and those out of spec, he claims these Barco are certified to do p3 color correctly but that in the past some other manufacturers might have traded quality for price.

'Designed for the application' till NEC announced a DCi certified version of its LASER-Phosphor projector at CineEurope this past summer, all laser-phosphor (+led for some) were designed for other applications, from the first Casio onwards. I doubt P3 is a concern in the design of the education models being launched by Panasonic and Hitachi at ISE next week either.

The yellower and wider the spectrum of the phosphor the higher the green/white brightness, always a trade-off. Even in RGB the selection of the primaries affects output.
